Fitness Center Owner Leads Petersburg Community on a Health Journey: Meet Calvin McIntyre – WTVR
Calvin McIntyre, the owner of Bodies and Beyond, is on a mission to change the health status of Petersburg, Virginia one person at a time. Despite the city usually ranking last in health, McIntyre, a bodybuilder with over 100 trophies, is working hard to inspire others to prioritize their health. At 56 years old, McIntyre is still competing and winning bodybuilding contests, showing that age is just a number.
McIntyre’s fitness center is open 24 hours a day, aiming to encourage individuals in the community to prioritize their health and well-being. He offers special services for seniors, such as the “Silver Sneakers” program, where seniors can work out for a minimal fee. Many of his clients, especially seniors, serve as inspiration to McIntyre, who aspires to be in as good shape as they are when he reaches their age.
Currently, McIntyre has been nominated to appear in Muscle Fitness Magazine and is in the running to win a $20,000 cash prize. If he wins, he plans to give back to his community by donating to charities that support the homeless, and upgrading equipment in his fitness center to better serve his clients. While the magazine contest is important, McIntyre emphasizes that his clients are his top priority, and he is focused on helping improve the health of Petersburg one step at a time.
