Crackdown on Midday Meal Workers in Gurgaon Government Schools: Fitness Certificates Required every Six Months

In a bid to ensure the health and fitness of midday meal workers in government schools in Gurgaon, a new mandate has been put in place. These workers will now have to submit a fitness certificate every six months after being examined. This directive comes from the director general of elementary education, who has instructed all district education officers and elementary district education officers to implement this new policy.

The move aims to crack down on the arbitrariness of school heads in the hiring and firing of cooks for the midday meal program. According to the letter sent out by the directorate, the process of appointing and dismissing cooks will now be strictly as per their instructions. Drawing and disbursing officers (DDOs) will also be monitoring whether the cooks are working in accordance with the number of students in each section of the schools. If cooks are not appointed as per the prescribed number, action will be taken against the school head.

Additionally, the directorate has taken note of the shortage of midday meal ration and is working to address this issue. This new directive aims to ensure that the midday meal program runs smoothly and efficiently in government schools in Gurgaon.

This development comes in the wake of recent articles highlighting the shifting food habits of Indians towards processed foods and the appointment of a new Director General at the National Institute of Solar Energy. Moreover, the rising temperatures in Uttar Pradesh have prompted the education department to revise school timings in Lucknow to address heat-related illnesses. Stay tuned for more updates on these developing stories.
