FIT-Together Program Offers Family-Centered Approach to Health and Wellness

Franciscan Health Michigan City is once again offering its popular FIT-Together program to families in the community. This free series of classes, designed to promote health and wellness in a family-centered approach, is now open for registration. The six-week program, targeting both children and their parents, aims to enhance the health of every family member.

The program covers a range of topics including healthy choices in activities, relationships, and emotional health. The classes will also include physical activities and tips on maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle led by Trainer Ron Gaston, as well as cooking, meal prep, and nutritional advice from Chef Nakia. Additionally, participants will receive weekly meal kits for the entire family.

The FIT-Together classes will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 4 to July 18 at The Temple Total Fitness Center in Michigan City. The classes will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m., with the exception of July 2 and July 4 due to the Independence Day holiday.

The program is a collaboration between Franciscan Health Michigan City, General Insurance Services, Bowen Center, Kia Can Cook, and The Temple Total Fitness Center. Through this partnership, families will have the opportunity to learn about the seven Cs of family resilience, including control, competence, coping, confidence, connection, character, and contribution.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Those interested can contact Franciscan Health Michigan City Community Health Improvement Coordinator Nila Williams at [email protected] or 219-283-9649 for more information or to register. Don’t miss this opportunity to improve the health and well-being of your family through the FIT-Together program.
