Cherokee Nation Citizen Find Success and New Direction Through Boxing

TAHLEQUAH – Anthony Vazquez, a Cherokee Nation citizen, has found a new direction in life thanks to the sport of boxing. Formerly struggling with errant decisions and uncertainty about his path, Vazquez is now the Oklahoma Golden Gloves champion in the novice division at 139 pounds.

Vazquez credits his trainer, Arlo Jumper, who owns Two Strong Boxing Club in Tahlequah, for introducing him to the world of boxing and helping him achieve success. Jumper emphasized the importance of rhythm and timing in the sport, as well as the need to be flexible when facing different opponents.

The road to victory was not easy for Vazquez, who had to compete in a two-day tournament, facing different styles and challenges in each match. However, his dedication to training and his ability to adapt to different opponents ultimately led to his triumph.
